Update of earlier news item

Since the publication of David Koenig's "Suspended Animation" article http://www.mouseplanet.com/davd/dk030814.htm , the Mouse Planet web site has received a lot of mail about further layoffs and shutdowns by Disney. Apparently the studio branch in Paris, where a lot of the art for "Tarzan" has ended employment of it's traditional artists. For further information go to http://www.mouseplanet.com/mailbag/m030828.htm .

As a related news item,

Heads turned and jaws dropped as Jeffrey Katzenberg announced that DreamWorks would no longer produce traditional 2D animated movies. This from the man who produced "The Lion King" and left Disney to re-establish classic traditional hand drawn animation at the new studio. For more information go to http://www.telegraph.co.uk/arts/main.jhtml?xml=/arts/2003/08/26/bfsj26.xml

  News of "Big Fish"

bigfishlogoThe original release date of "Big Fish" on November 26, 2003 has apparently been pushed back to December 18, 2003, limited to New York City, Los Angeles and Toronto. A wider release is set for January 23, 2004.

With the number of people here who worked on this film it would be nice if a special screening or screenings could be arranged in Alabama.

Director Tim Burton is producer on "The Corpse Bride", a stop motion feature using a technique similar to "A Nightmare Before Christmas" and "James and The Giant Peach". He will also be directing the upcoming "Charlie and The Chocolate Factory", based on the book of the same name. A 1971 version, "Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory", starred Gene Wilder.

After finishing filming here, Ewan McGregor drove his motorcycle from Alabama to Los Angeles. As he was growing his beard for the role of 'Obi Wan Kenobe' for the next installment of 'Star Wars', he had a few adventures along the way, if you happened to of seen the "Tonight Show" he was on.
