BIRMINGHAM, Ala.
Yuri Shapochka talks about the short film
"Game Shop" which was he wrote and directed .
Reelscene : In "Game Shop"
what inspired you to write this and do this..
Yuri Shapochka : Silent films by
Luis Buñuel who produced the first surrealist film with Salvador Dali...
Reelscene : "Un Chien Andalou"
Yuri Shapochka : Yes, yes,
absolutely right.. and it was the main inspiration. In that
movie they were catching the eye... it was [the] most powerful
scene in our film, they were driven the fork there. So there
are some kind of parallel there and it was the inspiration basically.
Reelscene : And was it a comment
on the person working there was maybe bored or..
Yuri Shapochka : I would prefer
to not explain it. I don't think he was bored, I think he had
some kind of personal problems and we can only guess about it
so I don't want to describe what it was but I think, yeah, he
had some inner pressure on him.
Reelscene : Were the things that
happen with him were symbolic or a metaphor...
Yuri Shapochka : Sure, sure
the whole story's metaphorical and we can interpret it whatever.
Ok, thank you very much
