BIRMINGHAM, Ala
Randy Marsh, long time figure in the
Birmingham theatrical scene and co-founder of the Birmingham
Festival Theatre died Monday March 14 at the age of 57. He had
suffered a stroke on Thursday followed by a more severe stroke on
Friday that depriving his brain of blood.
Randy Marsh, along with Carl Stewart,
started the Birmingham Festival Theatre in 1972 and went on to be
involved in the Birmingham theatrical circles for the last three
decades. Including the BFT, Marsh worked with Birmingham Children's
Theatre, Independent Presbyterian Church, and the Little Theatre
Players. Marsh was also an instructor at the Alabama School of Fine
Arts.
Even with a laryngectomy last year
because of throat cancer Marsh continued to teach at ASFA and was
working on the Wednesday before suffering the stroke on Thursday.
He is survived by his wife, Haden
Marsh, daughters Kim Cornell, Gains Marsh and Kate Marsh and his
grandson Eliot Marsh. The family asks that donations be made to the
Randy Marsh Memorial Scholarship Fund at the ASFA, 1800 Eight Ave.
