Call for Entries for Film Co-op's
Rocket City Short Film Festival:
Entries Due Oct. 1, 2006

Huntsville, Ala. -- The Alabama Filmmakers Co-op is calling for entries for its Rocket City Short Film Festival by Oct.1, 2006.

Films will be divided into two age categories: Adult (age 18+) and Youth (age 17 and under). Audience favorites for each age category will win cash prizes. Films must be 20 minutes or less (including credits), and must be submitted on VHS or DVD format. The entry fee is $10 per film. The deadline for entries is Oct. 1. For more information and an entry form, go to www.filmcoop.org or call Anna Sue Courtney at 256-536-5137.

"We continue to hold local film contests like this in order to encourage independent filmmaking in our region of the South," said Anna Sue Courtney, president of the Alabama Filmmakers Co-op. "The festival also gives filmmakers a public venue to share their stuff -- instead of just showing their films to friends in their own living rooms. As in our prior festivals, the films typically feature local talent and local locations everyone gets to see in a new and different way. We always get a great turnout for these events."

Those needing assistance in making their film and those who want to volunteer to help others make a film, can contact Don Tingle at 256-837-4359 or donjtingle@aol.com. Tingle will connect the filmmakers and helpers.

The festival will be held Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. in the Flying Monkey Arts Center in Huntsville, AL.
